On September 24-28, 2020, Academician Jiang Guibin, director of the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, led a scientific research team to Tibet to carry out part of the "Second Comprehensive Scientific Investigation of the Tibetan Plateau".

At 6 pm on September 24, Academician Jiang Guibin, who had just arrived in Lhasa for less than an hour, put down their costumes. The journey was unwashed, and they came to Tibet University to participate in Tibet University-Chinese Academy of Sciences Ecological Environment Research Center "Plateau Ecological Environment and Health" "Joint Laboratory Work Conference. Professor Ji Jianzhou, President of Tibet University, presided over the meeting. Executive Director of the Joint Laboratory and Professor Budo of the College of Science introduced the work development and future work ideas of the Joint Laboratory since its establishment. The two parties summarized the results of cooperation since 2009, discussed the composition of the joint laboratory academic committee, and deployed the joint laboratory's next scientific research plan. President Ji Jianzhou issued a letter of appointment as a part-time professor to Academician Jiang Guibin, and expressed the hope that under the guidance of Academician Jiang, the "Plateau Ecological Environment and Health" joint laboratory can undertake a number of high-level scientific research projects, produce a number of high-end research results, Achieve a group of young and middle-aged academic backbones, creating a business card for our school's discipline construction. The school will provide a strong guarantee for the work of Academician Jiang and the development of the joint laboratory, strive to build the joint laboratory into a model of cooperation between domestic and foreign universities, and contribute to the construction of our school's first-class disciplines. Academician Jiang Guibin delivered a speech at the appointment ceremony, expressing that he was very happy to be appointed as a part-time professor of Tibet University again. He reviewed his experience of cooperation and exchange with Tibet University in 2009, thanked the school for its support of the joint laboratory, and introduced future work ideas in scientific research, young teacher training, platform construction, etc., and hoped to be a part-time professor His identity has contributed to the development of schools and colleges. Finally, he wished Tibet University's first-class disciplines a better development.

The construction of the joint laboratory has also been strongly supported by the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Researchers Wang Xiaoping and Researcher Cong Zhiyuan have participated in laboratory work meetings and scientific expeditions many times. The experimental stations built by the Qinghai-Tibet Institute in Mount Everest Base Camp, Lulang and Nam Co provided strong support for the joint laboratory.

Since Academician Jiang Guibin participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Chemical Society of Tibet Autonomous Region in 2009, the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology and Tibet University have established a long-term cooperative relationship. Academician Jiang Guibin leads key members of the State Key Laboratory to carry out related scientific investigations and scientific research activities with Tibet University almost every year. Academician Jiang Guibin and his team have been invited to participate in the activities of Tibet University Science and Technology Week for many times, and have successively delivered more than 30 academic reports at Tibet University , Supporting 5 open topics in the key laboratory of Tibet University, training talents for Tibet University for a long time, accepting teachers for further studies, and providing opportunities to participate in academic conferences. At the end of 2015, Academician Jiang Guibin and President Ji Jianzhou signed an agreement on the joint construction of the "Plateau Ecological Environment and Health" joint laboratory in Beijing. In 2017, the joint laboratory establishment ceremony was held at Tibet University. Academician Jiang Guibin, Deputy Director of the People's Congress of Tibet Autonomous Region Nima Tsering jointly unveiled the joint laboratory. The laboratory is headed by Academician Jiang Guibin, and Professor Zhang Qinghua from the Ecological Environment Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Buduo from Tibet University are the executive directors.

After several years of development, Tibet University has insisted on building joint laboratories with high standards, increasing investment in joint laboratories, continuously improving hardware conditions, and giving laboratories a special talent team building policy. At present, the two sides have carried out in-depth cooperation in joint publication of papers, laboratory operation level, and postgraduate training, and have achieved fruitful results. The laboratory's scientific research team with teachers from Tibet University as the backbone has grown rapidly. For example, Professor Buduo, who received his doctorate from the Department of Environment of Fudan University a few years ago, has always been an outstanding representative of the cooperation between the two parties. He has grown into the executive director of the joint laboratory and a doctoral tutor of Tibet University, and has been selected as a national "Ten Thousand Thousand Talents" Project", won the title of "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions". Tenzeng, this Tibetan guy, won the "Chinese Chemical Society Youth Environmental Chemistry Award" established by the Tenth National Environmental Chemistry Conference for his excellent teaching and scientific research achievements. The joint laboratory currently has about 1,000 square meters of laboratory space, equipped with advanced instruments and equipment such as triple quadrupole liquid-mass spectrometry, ICP-MS, total mercury meter, etc., and is at the leading level in Tibet as a whole. At the same time, the "Polar and Alpine Regions Persistent Toxic Pollutants (PTS)" series of academic seminars, started in 2013, has been fully supported by Tibet University and has been successfully held four times in Lhasa, Nyingchi, Shannan and other regions. , It has become a high-level academic conference in this field and has produced important academic influence.

The joint laboratory will be based on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, aiming at the frontiers of scientific research in the world, highlighting regional characteristics, and build a high-level laboratory that is leading in the western region, well-known in China and influential in the world. Make more contributions to the construction of national ecological security barriers and the development of basic scientific research in the polar and high mountain regions of the world.

On September 25, academician Jiang Guibin led the key members of the joint laboratory to Qiongjie County, Cuomei County, and Cona County, Shannan City, one of the atmospheric transport channels in the Himalayas, for a two-day field scientific investigation and site selection of observation sites. In order to promote the development of the "Plateau Ecological Environment and Health" joint laboratory, it is of great significance to improve the level of discipline construction and the quality of talent training.

The focus of the scientific research is in Cona County, Shannan City, in the southern foot of the Himalayas, adjacent to Bhutan and India in South Asia. South Asia is currently one of the most severely polluted areas in the world. Pollutants may be transported from valley channels to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with atmospheric airflow. Therefore, comprehensive scientific investigations are needed to study the ecological risks that it may bring to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and obtain Key data. The scientific expedition area is basically around 4500m-5200m above sea level, with high mountains and long roads, poor traffic conditions, and the scientific expedition process is very difficult, but the team overcomes the difficulties, completed the task efficiently and methodically, and installed the atmosphere in an ideal location. Passive sampler for long-term monitoring of data.
