State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology

State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology (SKLECE) is authorized by Ministry of Science and Technology in 2007. Our Lab has pioneered the national research in persistent toxic substances and in the establishment of national environmental monitoring systems since 1970s. The achievements of SKLECE make a ground-breaking contribution to our nation’s development in environmental chemistry and toxicology disciplines, and provide critical scientific foundation in the management of persistent toxic substances.

SKLECE comprises 59 research staff including 3 academicians and 17 full professors. Currently, SKLECE has 70 Ph.D candidates, 41 master students and 19 visiting researchers.

Research Orientation: environmental analytical chemistry, environmental chemical behavior and ecotoxicology of persistent toxic substances (PTS)

Overall Goal: 1) make original contributions in cutting-edge areas of environmental chemistry and toxicology; 2) meet our nation’s needs in environmental security about PTS, and provide scientific basis for decision making in pollution control; 3) train highly qualified research professionals in environmental chemistry and toxicology.

Future Strategy: continued excelling in environmental analytical chemistry; emphasizing environmental processes and pollution mechanisms study; promoting research in toxicology and health impact. The whole research team is striving to reach internationally advanced level within 5-10 years, and to play an important technical supporting role for nation’s environment and health decisions.
